About Me

Julia Bee

The most important thing for me is to remain open to the direction of my own spirit and to God's loving direction, because I know then that I am living my life to the full. It is a privilege to be involved in enabling others to do the same.

I have been a professional teacher, Christian leader and community worker, working for over ten years as a spiritual director and now also as a Soul Midwife.

I received my initial training as a spiritual director through my local Spiritual Network (SPI-DIR) and then in Ignatian Spirituality at the London Centre for Spirituality - a three year course which looks to equip spiritual directors as guides for those wishing to undergo the Ignatian Exercises. I am on the diocesan lists of spiritual directors for My local SPI-DIR group (Oxford, Berks and Bucks) also Gloucestershire and Winchester, The London Centre for Spirituality and Spiritual Directors International.

I became interested in the care of the dying some five years ago and completed my initial training as a Soul Midwife in 2015. I work weekly as a volunteer in a local hospice. My continued training includes getting to know some wonderful people who let me into their lives at what is a crucial time for them. Their gift to me continues to develop and deepen my current practice and understanding of what it is to have a good death and to leave a legacy for others.

Contemplative prayer, meditation and yoga are a daily part of my life and the discipline of nurturing a peaceful centre within myself. I am an oblate of the World Community for Christian Meditation.

Of its own unfolding."
